The golden age of the silent movie returns to the Penistone Paramount on Saturday 10th April at 2.30pm, with a special centenary screening of the classic silent film - ‘The General’, staring the great Buster Keaton. In commemoration of the film’s 100 year Anniversary, we just had to bring it back to the Paramount for you to enjoy once again.
We are thrilled that at the console of the Paramount’s ‘Mighty’ Compton Cinema Organ is none other than the master of silent film accompaniment - Donald MacKenzie. As Resident Organist at London’s famous Odeon, Leicester Square in the heart of the city’s Theatreland, Donald has performed for royalty on numerous occasions at many royal film premieres at this prestigious venue.
As part of the program, Donald will be showcasing the capabilities of the Compton organ with a selection of famous film music prior to the screening of the film. So get your ticket, drink and popcorn and settle back for a unique trip back in time like no other.
